Naast mijn meer 'exacte' werk als econoom en informaticus, is het heerlijk om soms (wat minder precies) vrij en creatief bezig te zijn. Maar ook dan nog zoek ik naar manieren waarop mens en computer synergetisch kunnen samenwerken. In mijn foto's, muziek en artwork zoek ik altijd naar wat verrassende inspiratie in de bijna onbegrensde creatieve mogelijkheden die ontstaan wanneer je kunst, wetenschap en techniek samenbrengt.

Next to my more 'exact' activities in economics and information technology, few things are more satisfying than being artistically creative, free from constraints. But even then i keep looking for ways in which man and machine can cooperate synergetically. Hence, in my photos, music and artwork i always seek some surprising inspiration in the sheer limitless creative possibilities that come from putting art, science and technology together.

SLIDESHOW ALBUM 'FACEBOOK'

07 / 24 - nieuw album: elysium !

In dit album een nieuwe reeks prenten, losjes geïnspireerd op wat verhalen uit de Griekse mythologie. Ook deze portretten zijn dus- net als die in mijn vorige album 'FaceBook' - fictief en geheel digitaal vervaardigd met behulp van verschillende grafische pakketten, workflows, filters en AI-engines. Dat biedt nieuwe creatieve mogelijkheden, maar ook uitdagingen.

Om de resultaten echt 'levend' en artistiek interessant te krijgen, zijn ook nog flink wat (na)bewerkingen nodig. Maar ook dat zal spoedig veranderen. Al met al zijn nu al wel resultaten mogelijk die soms lastig van echte foto's zijn te onderscheiden. Of je AI-ondersteunde werken ook kunst mag noemen, is een doorlopende discussie die ik graag aan de kijker zelf laat :)

ALBUM 'FACEBOOK'

07 / 24 - new album: Elysium!

In this album, some new works, loosely inspired on Greek mythology. Like the images in my previous album 'Facebook', all works are fully digitally crafted using a wealth of graphical software packages, workflows, filters and AI-engines. These tools and techniques offer completely new creative opportunities, but challenges too.

To get 'living' and artistically interesting results, some heavy post-processing is still needed. But all in all, at this point in time it is totally possible to create images that are hard to distinguish from real photos. Wheather you may call AI-generated images 'art', is still up for debate. Something i'll leave up to you, you decide :)

equipment used

All photo's were taken in the course of about 25 years with either a Sony 717, a Sony R1, a Nikon D7100, a Nikon D750 and (more recently) a Nikon Z8. Post-processing and the artwork pieces were done using Photoshop and Lightroom.

Al de getoonde foto's zijn in de loop van ongeveer 25 jaar genomen met een Sony 717, een Sony R1, een Nikon D7100, een Nikon D750 en (meer recent) een Nikon Z8. De nabewerking en het artwork zijn gedaan met Lightroom en Photoshop.

Hier vind je een selectie van de muziek-stukken die ik in de laatste 20 jaar (of zo) heb gemaakt. Ik weet niet precies in welke muziekcategorie ze zijn in te delen, maar wat doet het er toe. De meeste werken zijn gemaakt met Cubase, een paar midi-keyboards, wat moeite en heel veel (soft)synths en samples.

Here you'll find some pieces of music i made over the last 20 years or so. I am not sure my music qualifies as a genre, but, hey, who cares? Almost all music was made using Cubase, a few midi-keyboards, some effort and a lot of (soft)synths and samples.
